We are replacing about 2,496 metres of pipe in in Moult Street, Keith Hart Grove, Downes Street, Morere Street and part of Dimock Street. These pipes are up to 70 years old and in poor condition.
Wellington Water on behalf of Porirua City Council, will soon be renewing the water pipe in your street.
This is part of our ongoing work to deliver a more reliable supply of safe drinking water to your home and to reduce the risk of emergency repairs or outages.
We are replacing 2,496 metres of pipe in in Moult Street, Keith Hart Grove, Downes Street, Morere Street, and part of Dimock Street. These pipes are up to 70 years old and in poor condition. This is package one of three packages of work that will take place across Titahi Bay.
The work plan
Work is starting on 23 March 2026 with completion expected late June 2026. The work site is mobile so will move as the work progresses.
Three crews will be working simultaneously to ensure we complete the work as soon as possible.
- Crew 1 (Drilling) will start in Moult Street, Keith Hart Grove and Downes Street for a period of approximately four weeks and then will move to Morere Street for a further two weeks.
- Crew 2 will follow in Moult Street and Keith Hart Grove for a period of approximately five weeks
- Crew 3 will follow in Downes Street for a period of approximately seven weeks.
- Crew 2 will then move to Morere Street for a period of approximately eight weeks.
- Crew 1 (Dig and Lay) will start in Dimock Street approximately 11 May 2026 for a period of three weeks
- Crew 3 will follow in Dimock Street for a period of approximately five weeks.
Impact on the community
Hours of work will be between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Friday with work on Saturday if required.
Water supply will be disrupted for short periods only when disconnecting and reconnecting supply. We will be in contact in advance of any disruptions to let you know.
This work is likely to create some noise disturbance however we will endeavour to reduce noise where
possible.
There may be stop/go and detours in place, so please follow the instructions from the traffic management team.
As the work will be taking place in the road corridor, there may be temporary restriction to on-street parking.
Our contractors Tatana Contracting Limited will do their best to keep residents advised the day before as to
which part of the road they will be working on.
- Please do not park in the intended work zone so we can get the work completed as quickly as possible.
- Be aware that if your vehicle is found within the intended work zone, it may be relocated by Porirua City Council parking enforcement staff to an available car park close by.
