Between approximately 9 am on 26 June and 7 am on 26 June, the short outfall pipe discharged untreated wastewater into Tarakena Bay.

Signs are in place along the coastline to alert water users of areas which may be impacted by this event. Water quality samples will be collected from coastal locations once improved weather conditions allow.

About Us / Who We Are / Our Asset Management Approach

Our asset management approach

We are currently managing more than $7b of assets that deliver essential services for our councils and communities.

The three waters assets are uniquely challenging to manage. They are mainly located underground; many are now near or past the end of their economic lives; and the ground they are located in is subject to earthquakes and other natural hazards.

We are maturing our approach to asset management as we go and as we continue to develop a deeper understanding of the state and condition of the assets, the extent of which also relies on the level of funding we are allocated for these activities.
