Wellington Water to farewell Board Member Mahina Puketapu

Wellington Water Board Chair Bill Bayfield announced today that Mahina Puketapu is stepping down from the Wellington Water Board

Bill thanked Mahina for her dedication and recognised her great contribution to Wellington Water and the communities they serve over the past 2.5 years

Mahina joined our Board in September 2023. Since then, she has made significant contributions to the Board and the organisation. As part of her role, Mahina chaired the Major Project Board Sub-Committee, where  she has been instrumental in progressing the delivery of many of Wellington Waters capital programmes across the region.

"Mahina has recently been appointed as Board Chair for Construction Contracts Limited (CCL), a leading civil infrastructure company specialising in water reticulation, stormwater, and wastewater systems. As CCL are a key delivery partner for water services, Mahina has stepped back from her role with Wellington Water to avoid any potential conflicts of interest.

On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Mahina for her commitment and all her mahi. We wish her every success for the future.

Mahina’s last day on the Board was Friday 13 March.

From 1 July 2026, Tiaki Wai will take over management and delivery of water services (drinking water, wastewater and stormwater) from Wellington Water. Due to the short timeframe till this transition, a replacement Board member will not be appointed in the interim.
