Between approximately 9 am on 26 June and 7 am on 26 June, the short outfall pipe discharged untreated wastewater into Tarakena Bay.

Signs are in place along the coastline to alert water users of areas which may be impacted by this event. Water quality samples will be collected from coastal locations once improved weather conditions allow.

Check LAWA.org.nz before visiting beaches along the south coast.

Porirua flooding drop-in sessions

Porirua City Council and Wellington Water are holding some drop-in evenings to discuss the latest flooding hazards that we have been modelling and mapping in Titahi Bay, Porirua CBD, Plimmerton and Cannons Creek.

We are interested in the community’s observations, any photos of local flooding recently experienced and any information that could help us understand the catchment areas better. If you have been affected by flooding it would be great to see you at one of our sessions.

The drop in sessions will be held on:

  • Thursday 12 July from 7pm to 8.30 pm at Titahi Bay Primary school.
  • Tuesday 24 July from 7pm to 8.30pm at Porirua School.
  • Tuesday 31 July from 7pm to 8.30pm at St Theresas Catholic Church.
  • Wednesday 8 August from 7pm to 8.30pm at Cannons Creek School.

See you there.
