Between approximately 9 am on 26 June and 7 am on 26 June, the short outfall pipe discharged untreated wastewater into Tarakena Bay.

Signs are in place along the coastline to alert water users of areas which may be impacted by this event. Water quality samples will be collected from coastal locations once improved weather conditions allow.

Porirua wastewater treatment plant consent application update

Porirua City Council is in the process of seeking a consent to continue operating the wastewater treatment plant for the next 20 years, as set out here.

Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC) has technical reviews of the application underway and may ask for more information.

Once the review process is complete, GWRC will notify the consent application so the public can make submissions.

In response to requests from the public, GWRC has made the current application online, noting that these documents may change prior to public notification.
