Between approximately 8 am on 25 June and 7 am on 26 June, the short outfall pipe discharged untreated wastewater into Tarakena Bay.

Signs are in place along the coastline to alert water users of areas which may be impacted by this event. Water quality samples will be collected from coastal locations once improved weather conditions allow.

Wellington Water Chair steps down

Wellington Water’s Board Chair Lynda Carroll has stepped down from the Board.

“I’d like to thank Lynda for her significant contribution to the organisation,” says Wellington Water Committee Chair Campbell Barry.

“Lynda joined the Board in June 2021 and took over the Chair role in November 2021. During that time, she has overseen the organisation through some challenging times and her commitment to supporting the company and the important work that the people at Wellington Water do has been apparent,” says Campbell Barry.

“As Wellington Water moves closer towards water reforms and essentially, its transition to a new organisation, the work of the company will become increasingly more operational,” says Lynda. “As a strategist and forward looking leader, it now feels like the right time for me to step back and allow someone else to step in to support the organisation through the next stages.

“I’d like to thank the Board for their support during my time as Chair as well as the CE, SLT and wider team at Wellington Water.”

The Wellington Water Board will meet later today to appoint an interim Chair.

A separate appointment process is underway to fill the currently vacant Director roles, which will be announced once completed.
