Lower Hutt
All properties
Hutt City property owners will get the first Tiaki Wai bill issued on 30 July, and it will be due on 1 September 2026.
The regular dates for water service invoices will be:
| Bill issued to property owners | Covers period | Payment due |
| 30 July | 1 July to 30 September | 1 September |
| 1 November | 1 October to 31 December | 1 December |
| 1 February | 1 January to 31 March | 1 March |
| 1 May | 1 April to 30 June | 1 June |
Properties with water meters
Properties with an existing water meter will receive two Tiaki Wai bills. In addition to the water services bill there will be a bill for water usage (based on a meter reading) which will arrive at the same frequency council currently sends it.
| Meters read | Bill issued to property owners | Payment due |
| 1 September - 20 October | By 31 October | 20 November |
| 1 January - 20 February | By 28 February | 20 March |
| 1 May - 20 June | By 30 June | 20 July |
You can expect to be billed by Hutt City Council for your water usage up to 30 June 2026 based on either an actual or estimated reading. Tiaki Wai will then start invoicing for water used from 1 July 2026.
Tiaki Wai account numbers
Each property has been allocated a unique Tiaki Wai water services account number, shown on the water service bill. This account number must be used when making payment, to make sure payments are allocated to the correct property.
Tiaki Wai water service account numbers will be different to council rate account numbers or property valuation numbers.
Properties with an existing water meter that receive metered water bills from council have also been allocated a water usage account number. This will be different to the council metered water account number reference.
There is no extra charge to use Payble and it’s quick and easy to:
- Choose how to pay – full or part payments
- Decide what day to make payments (for example to align with your pay day)
- View balances and upcoming payments
- Set up a personalised payment schedule
- Access and update your payment information any time, anywhere
Online banking
Tiaki Wai bills can be paid directly through your bank's online banking service. Set up Tiaki Wai as a payee in your online banking account. Tiaki Wai has a separate bank account to Hutt City Council and payments cannot be transferred between the two organisations.
For water services bills the registered payee is: Tiaki Wai Hutt City – Water Services
When making payments, please use the water services account number (shown on the bill) as the reference.
For the water usage bill (if metered), use this payee: Tiaki Wai Hutt City – Water Usage
When making payments for metered properties, please use the water usage account number (shown on the bill) as the reference.
Manual bill payments
If you prefer to manually set up your bill payments rather than use the registered payee option, use the bank account numbers below.
Make sure ‘Tiaki Wai’ is spelled correctly and double check you have entered the right account number for your property’s council area.
Include your water service account number as reference and your name as particulars.
If paying from overseas, you may also need to provide your bank with the relevant account and international identifier details (eg SWIFT/BIC). Please contact your bank if you need further information.
