Harris St Syphon

Now that’s what we call a deep clean!

Constructed over twenty years ago to address stormwater flooding in the CBD, the Harris Street syphon sits 16 metres under ground level. It’s meant to drain stormwater from around Willis and Victoria Streets and discharge it, using its own momentum, at Frank Kitts Park.

Takapū Road Watermain Renewal

Delivered under the Urgent Works stream as part of our Capital Delivery Programme, our internal Major Pipelines, Operations, and Design teams have been working collaboratively to unearth sections of the bulk water main (that is, the big pipes) which carries drinking water from Te Mārua Treatment Plant in Upper Hutt to Porirua City and the western suburbs of Wellington City.

Newlands Watermain Renewals

Ngauranga Gorge project

Work will soon be working to install an earthquake resilient pipe connection at Ngauranga Gorge. This key pipeline brings water from Hutt Valley to Wellington City. Work is scheduled to start on 23 March and completed by 20 July.

Victoria Street Wastewater Rising Main

Our contractors will be doing investigative work before the renewal of the 1936 wastewater pipe which runs along Victoria Street and Dixon Street.  

Cockayne Road water pipe renewal

Works commenced at Cockayne Road and Imlay Crescent on Monday 12 January, with our contractors G P Friel Ltd excavating each end of the pipe to prepare it for cleaning.
